Educating Our Community About Pollinators
The Bee Bridge is a new nonprofit dedicated to expanding urban beekeeping and pollinator education across Fort Worth and North Texas. We place managed honey bee hives on city-owned and public land to create visible, hands-on learning opportunities that benefit the entire community — not just beekeepers.
We are in our early stages. Our application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status has been submitted; IRS approval is pending.
Urban pollinator education matters in North Texas
North Texas is one of the fastest-growing urban regions in the country. As cities expand, many residents lose everyday connection to the natural systems that support our food, gardens, and open spaces. Pollinators — including honey bees — play a critical role in that system, yet most people never get a chance to learn about them in a meaningful, local context.
The Bee Bridge exists to close that gap. We believe that when communities understand pollinators, they become better stewards of the environments we share. Education is not an add-on to our work — it is the heart of our mission.
Public land for learning and stewardship
By partnering to place carefully managed honey bee hives on city-owned and public spaces, we create living classrooms in the heart of the community. Residents, students, and visitors can observe responsible urban beekeeping in action — seeing how bees contribute to pollination, biodiversity, and local food systems.
Hives on public land make pollinator education visible and accessible — not hidden behind backyard fences.
Every site is an opportunity for tours, workshops, and school programs that reach people who might never visit a traditional farm or nature center.
We pair hive stewardship with pollinator habitat awareness — helping the public understand bees alongside native plants and sustainable urban landscapes.
Planned educational programs
We are launching thoughtfully and growing with the community. These are the program areas we are developing as our first yards and partnerships come online.
School & Youth Programs
Classroom visits, field trips to community apiaries, and age-appropriate curriculum that connects students to pollinators and local food systems.
Public Workshops & Tours
Hands-on learning at managed hive sites on city-owned and public land — helping residents see bees up close and understand their role in the environment.
Community Events & Outreach
Neighborhood presentations, festival booths, and partner events that bring pollinator education to people where they already gather.
Member Beekeeper Support
Training, mentorship, and access to suitable yards for qualified members — as part of our larger mission to model responsible urban beekeeping for the public.
Partnerships, volunteering & membership
Schools, civic groups, landowners, and beekeepers all have a role in what we are building. Reach out about education partnerships, public land, or volunteering. Beekeepers can apply for membership — applications are reviewed before portal access is granted.
Supporting beekeepers serves the community
The Bee Bridge does support local beekeepers by providing access to suitable land, training, and a community of practice. But that support exists because trained, responsible beekeepers are essential partners in public education and conservation. When members manage hives on public land with care and transparency, they help the whole community learn — and that is the point.
Our Core Values
We teach the public, schools, and community groups about pollinators, honey bees, and sustainable urban environments.
Our work is designed to serve the broader community — building awareness, appreciation, and hands-on learning opportunities.
We support local pollination and pollinator habitat while demonstrating responsible, visible beekeeping on public land.
We are honest about being early-stage, growing carefully, and building something lasting for North Texas.
Building something lasting for our community
The Bee Bridge is just getting started. We are putting in the work now — partnerships, programs, and our first bee yards — so that Fort Worth and North Texas have a trusted, community-focused resource for pollinator education for years to come. We would love for you to be part of it.
